A Pair of Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

The assault resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
